What is the difference between Tyvek and tychem?
It is important to know that Tyvek can only handle a light liquid splash, so it is typically used for protecting against dry substances such as dust. If you need protection against hazardous liquids, a DuPont Tychem Suit is an excellent choice. It was designed especially for biological and chemical protection.
What is tychem material?
Tychem® is an innovative fabric range comprising multiple barrier layers that help provide protection from chemical and biological hazards. Laminated to Tyvek® for strength, it offers a robust solution with a high level of chemical barrier at uncharacteristically low weight.
What tychem 4000?
DuPont™ Tychem® 4000 delivers effective protection against a range of chemical environments. Tychem® 4000, utilizes Saranex™ 23-P film laminated to Tyvek® fabric to provide a rugged and durable fabric that resists abrasion. Tychem® 4000 fabric provides at least 30 minutes of protection against >124 chemical challenges.
Can a Tyvek suit be washed?
Tyvek® industrial protective garments are single-use products and not intended for reuse. DuPont does not recommend washing or disinfecting Tyvek® garments for reuse.
Who uses Tyvek suits?
Tyvek coveralls are one-piece garments, usually white, commonly worn by mechanics, oil industry workers, painters, insulation installers, and laboratory and cleanroom workers where disposable, one-time use coverall is needed.

Chemical resistant clothing includes all apparel that can provide a barrier between hazardous substances and skin. When you’re working in close proximity to hazardous chemicals, confidence in your protective garment is critical.
What is tychem TK?
DuPont™ Tychem®TK chemical barrier material consists of a high strength, high tear resistant, 100% nonwoven poly- ester staple fabric sandwiched between two proprietary non-halogenated barrier films. Tychem®TK is used for the manufacture of limited-use suits only.
Can you wash Tyvek suits?
No bleach – or machine wash, gentle cycle, cold water. Drip dry only. Do not put in a dryer, dry clean, or use an iron on this fabric. Fabrics of Tyvek should not be used near heat, flame, sparks, nor in explosive environments.
How long can you wear a Tyvek suit?
Typically a Tyvek suit will protect the wearer for approximately 8 hours. After this time, the protective materials will weaken and may become unsafe to use. Generally it is best to have a worker change into a new Tyvek suit after 8 hours of wear.
