Philibert Guichet invented the drink that would become known as the Grasshopper, for a 1918 cocktail competition in New York City. Guichet’s cocktail secured a second-place finish and became so popular back home in New Orleans, that it’s held a permanent spot on the Tujague’s cocktail menu ever since.
